| Her good friend Drifter
(Gary Elgar) diies in Red Deer. It is said that k.d. and the reclines
were performing at a small tourist loodge in Jasper the weekend Drifter
was killed, and the next day, someone managed to track her down and give
her the news just moments before she was to go onstage. She was stunned,
but rather than call off the gig, she went in and sang her guts out. After
her performance, she left the hote and spent the rest of the night walking
